A new TV biopic of BOB DYLAN will feature no input from the man himself - because director MARTIN SCORSESE wants the movie to be his vision of Dylan's life."

One man's dream to preserve the sounds of aging blues greats
By SHARON COHEN -- The Associated Press
SALINA, Kan. (AP) -- Snow is coating the red-brick church with an icy blanket, but inside a husky man in a black fedora is sizzling as he leans in to the microphone:

"Ho-o-old on baby," he wails, "don't mess around."

His harmonica whimpers. His voice softens.

"You get too hot," he purrs, "I'm going to cool you down."

Mos knows success

"Grammy nominee and star of TV and movies,
he's Def-initely on a career roll
BY ISAAC GUZMAN
The next five days are likely to be the biggest of Mos Def's career - the moment when 17 years of working as a musician and actor come into tight focus.
Tonight and tomorrow, he headlines B.B. King's Blues Club, playing his first public shows since releasing his latest album, "The New Danger." On Saturday, he turns in a rollicking cameo as a Louis Jordan-style bandleader in HBO's "Lackawanna Blues."
He wraps up Sunday with the Grammy Awards, where his song "Sex, Love & Money" is vying for Best Alternative/Urban Performance.
Over the past few months, the actor, rapper and frequent fashion plate has grown into an all-media phenomenon."

"Bush's Official Reading List, and a Racy Omission"

NY Times:"If you ask the White House what President Bush is reading these days, the press office will call back with the official list: "His Excellency: George Washington" by Joseph J. Ellis, "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow and, not least, the Bible.

What the official list omits is Tom Wolfe's racy new beer- and sex-soaked novel, "I Am Charlotte Simmons." The president, a fan of Mr. Wolfe, has not only read the book but also is enthusiastically recommending it to friends.

It is unclear exactly what Mr. Bush liked so much about the book, which is told from the point of view of Charlotte Simmons, a young woman from the God-fearing backwoods of North Carolina who is the first in her family to go to college. Charlotte, who is at first shocked by the booze and debauchery she encounters at Mr. Wolfe's Dupont University, modeled on Duke among others, eventually succumbs in a chapter-long deflowering scene at the hands of a drunken fraternity rat. Then she sinks into depression."

Welcome to our new page! I would like to see this be a space where we can weigh in on the lighter side of life. Seen a great movie lately? Tell us about it. Heard a CD that you can't stop listening to? Tell us why it's sooo good. Read a book you want to talk to everyone about? Well, we're listening! Etc. Etc. Etc. You get the idea; everything is up for grabs.
